Donegal Youth Service is dedicated and committed to an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds to fully participate in our projects and activities, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, age, disability, race, or political views.

We are fully committed to meeting our legal obligations under equality legislation, including the Employment Equality Act (1998), Equal Status Act (2000), and Equality Act (2004). Equality and diversity are at the heart of our policies, processes, and procedures, ensuring a fair and inclusive space for all.

Donegal Youth Service actively works to prevent discrimination and inequality, promoting equal opportunities for young people, staff, prospective employees, and volunteers. Our commitment to promoting equality and diversity is further demonstrated through targeted projects aimed at addressing racism, sectarianism, and homophobia such as BreakOut and Worldwide Voices Project.

Our BreakOut project is an example of our commitment to the LGBTI* community

‘BreakOut’ is an LGBTI* project for 12-30yr olds in Donegal established in 2009 when a range of professional agencies got together to begin to address the issues affecting young LGBTI* people across the county. The project is a responsive and reactive project designed to offer young LGBTI* people a safe space to meet and socialise with their friends and allies. BreakOut meets every week in Letterkenny and Ballybofey, and at different times in Moville, Glenties and other locations.  Please get in contact to find out more.

The Worldwide Voices Project at LOFT is an example of our commitment to young people from minority backgrounds

Donegal Youth Service has a long history of engaging with young people from ethnic minorities and the Worldwide voices project is an extension of this work.We have created a dance group, drumming circles and delivered song writing, photography and music workshops. This group gives young people from all backgrounds in Donegal a platform to express themselves through Music, Sports, and Politics. The Worldwide voices project is for all young people regardless of their cultural background or gender.
